LAYOUT OF THE WEEK & A SALE!

Our layout of the week comes to you this week from Design Team Member, Carole Janson. Carole chose Nicole Pomeroy's layout and says this:

I think this layout is so so pretty, I love the softness and the design to this layout, really beautiful, thanks so much for sharing this layout with us Nicole.

Here's a little interview between Carole and Nicole:

1. What do you scrap the most?
All four children are my mostly scrapped
subjects, occasionally myself or friends children ( like this photo of my
friends daughter)

2. Who are some of you favorite scrapbooking manufacturers?
Favorite manufacturers? This is a hard topic for me because I love so many but I know I
always come back to a few: Prima, Pink Paislee, Websters Pages, Fancy Pants
and now Bo Bunny (only recently jumped on the Bo Bunny wagon)

3. When is the most productive time of day for you?
NIGHT, very very late at night, I hardly ever scrap during the day anymore, and my time is usually once the kids are in bed and everything is cleaned up.

4. How long have your been scrapbooking?
I started scrapping not long after Zac was born, so about 3.5years now. Time flies when you're having fun ;)

5. What is your favorite product?
Again this is HARD, I love patterned paper, but I think Paint would be my favourite product, so many things you can do with it.

6. What couldn't you do without when scrapping ?
My stapler. It gets used on nearly every layout. Or my Tim Holtz scissors. I don't use my trimmer anymore.

It was great getting to know you a little better, Nicole. Come by and leave Nicole a little lovin' in our gallery here: http://www.amillionmemories.com/forum/viewlayout.php?id=18682

How about a little impromptu surprise?

Well, I'm working feverishly in the warehouse today with orders and ideas for AMM. Just use code 2526 at checkout. Write me a note at checkout about this super Sunday sale and I'll also include some pretty little AMM vintage trims for FREE!!! Yes, help me move as much of this stuff out as possible. Out with the old and in with the new, right?

More news, well...some of you may or may not know, I (Michelle), also have a full-time job. I didn't use to...I stayed home for the past few years taking care of my daughter who was going through chemo after being diagnosed in 2007 with Leukemia. She completed treatment in March of this year, so I immediately went back to work. It started out as a temporary job, but then went permanent. YIKES! It has been really rough keeping up with everything (job, AMM, 2 kids, husband, house). Once I finally felt like I had my groove going, I was offered a position at a firm that I have LONG admired and I start there a week from Monday. COULD NOT TELL YOU how excited I am to start this new endeavor. It is a shorter work day and it just seems like an amazing place to work. I am REALLY excited about it! I also have a friend working there already, which makes it perfect.

In crafty news, well, I usually don't have much time to get my creativity going, but this past week, I have done a few things. I did a layout with our September kit.

I also scraplifted a layout by Larissa Albernaz.

However, my layout kind of ended up going in another direction. LOL. Here is how mine ended up.
Oh well. I tried! LOL. I get such great inspiration from the girls on our design team. I literally spend hours going through their galleries and blogs. Anyway, that was a fun kit to work with. It was the May AMM kit.

We are sold out, but you can find leftovers here. Ok, back to work over here. Look out for our next email newsletter. I have some fun stuff planned for it.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Guest Designer Layouts!

Our guest designer this month, Julie Bonner, just posted this fantastic layout based on this month's design team challenge sketch. I adore her interpretation using a stitched layer of circles and larger photos.

Look for more of her designs coming soon to the gallery and more from the design team as they finish up their creations!

"Silly Summer Days" by Julie Bonner

Member Monday with Jenn Findlay!

Today's Layout of the Week was selected by yours truly. I chose this soft and pretty layout by Tara Orr.

I loved that it was pretty much monochromatic and I adore the movement caught in the picture. There is some really pretty distressing and layering going on here too. This is a perfect example of shbby chic at its finest!

Little Something Sunday with Jennifer Longenecker

A few years back I made a 411 (Information) album to keep in my purse. This album is most useful during the school year as it contains information on the kids teachers, their schedules, the school calendar, contact information for the school, etc. I also included Dr's numbers and other important information. My biggest problem with the album I made was that I didn't make it in a way that it can be used from one year to the next, so I decided to make a new one. I was inspired by the Hambly rub-ons and the owl just screamed back-to-school.

First I cut my Hambly rub-on sheet to fit the size of the album I was working with.

Then I rubbed each square onto white cardstock.

After that I cut out each square.

And added some color using water color paints.

Once it was all dry, I adhered each square in a grid pattern to the front of my newly painted album. I found that hot glue works the best for this.

Once each square was in place I gave them a wash and added a few embellishments.

September Design Team Inspirations!

This month's Design Team Inspiration comes from Lori Gentile. We were so inspired that most of the design team participated in this month's lift so we haev lots of inspiration to share with you. Let's get started!

First is the layout behind all of the inspiration. This is the layout that Lori created.
"Zoe" by Lori Gentile

"Homegrown" by Carole Janson
"I was so inspired by this gorgeous layout, from the beautiful photo to the gorgeous design through to the intricate placement of embellishments and textures. I thoroughly enjoyed creating my layout from this inspiration."

"It's Our Thing" by Kat Glossop
"The design of Lori's page is what I was inspired by, basically using it as a sketch - I also love the stitched paper strips which I've done horizontally on my page, and the cluster of journal spots to the right. It is a striking page and that photo is amazing!!"

"Just Laugh" by Kay Rogers
"First of all, can I say how much I loved Lori's layout?!?!? I used the idea of a border around a smaller square on the page. I used a circle punch for my border. I also liked her borders so I framed the bottom and left-hand side of the photo. I also included flowers like Lori, but used them as a corner accent."

"Best Spot on the Lake" by Jennifer Longenecker
"There are so many things about this LO that inspire me, but I chose to focus on just a few things. The sewn strips of borders behind the single photo was my fave, and I love how she framed her photo with a doodled black line. I also love how she framed her LO with the hand cut circles. I didn't have anything like that in my stash so I choose to cut out a frame using die cut pattern paper. Thanks so much for the inspiration Lori!"

"Completos" by Larissa Albernaz
"I love all the texture, the doilies and the innovative way Lori used Crate Paper´s borders to compose this stunning layout, so I scraplifted all these elements in my hybrid Kitschy Digitals layout."

"Seriously Cute" by Zoe Nemburt
"We chose this super amazing layout from Lori. We all loved it. For me it was the unique border. I just love everything about it, so I concentrated on this during my scraplift. I really like the end result. Thank you for inspiring us Lori."
Thanks so much for the inspiration girls! Check back to see who inspires the Design Team next month!
