Going Places-Great Travel Finds in the AMM Store

With CHA Summer just around the corner, the new releases are slowing down a bit but that doesn't mean there aren't some great finds in the store. I took a little virtual shopping spree and found some really great buys.

First is this travel themed limited edition kit, which you can find here. I am so in love with the new My Little Yellow Bicycle and Making Memories travel lines, both of which are in this kit.

This is so perfect for vacation pictures or even staycation pictures. If you aren't traveling this summer, how about some layouts with these ideas:

June Kit-Guest Designer Highlight

A big thank you goes out to Kimmi Achord, our June guest designer. She did such an amazing job with the June kit. I love all the special details she adds to her projects, just see below.

I love how she used the pom pom trim here to back the chipboard circle.

Here is another super cute touch with the stamps from the kit.

"Memories"

I love this glittered chipboard swirl.

Kimmi used a kraft knife to cut the title out of this Creative Imaginations paper, trimmed it a bit and backed the opening with patterned paper. Then she replaced the title with pop dots. Such a simple touch, but adds great visual interest.

"Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes"

I love how she embellished the Pink Paislee alpha stickers with glitter.

How genius is this, i love the picket fence wrapped around the bucket and the super cute flowers inside. What a great idea for Valentine's Day or a birthday.

Design Team Challenge with Stacy Cohen WIN a RAK!!

This is called "Anything but the kitchen sink." The challenge is to use any item found in a kitchen *except* for the kitchen sink (because then it would be hard to fit your layout in a page protector ). You have to use at least one or more non-scrapbooking items from your kitchen.

Here's my layout:

Here's what I used:

*COFFEE FILTERS -- I cut and punched flowers from coffee filters. I sprayed and painted them with Shimmerz paint and Spritz, then I layered the flowers on top of each other.

*CHEESECLOTH -- I cut out flower shapes and added them to my coffee filter flowers

*PLASTIC COFFEE CAN LID -- I punched flowers and cut out leaves from the plastic lids, then I colored the plastic with alcohol ink and Staz-On ink.

*INSTANT COFFEE -- I mixed a little instant coffee with gesso (thanks for the tip, Wendela!) and painted around the edges of the photos. The plain white gesso was a little too stark for my Photoshopped photos so the added coffee grounds helped tone down the color a bit.

*TWINE FROM THE KITCHEN JUNK DRAWER -- I hand-stitched the twine around the border of the layout, then I painted it with Shimmerz for a little sparkle.

*CARDBOARD COFFEE CUP JACKET/INSULATOR -- I punched a couple little butterflies out of the cardboard, then I added some Stickles and pearls.

Technique Tuesday *Special Edition*

OK, so we are deviating off the beaten path of the regular "Technique Tuesday" to bring you a blog exclusive sketch from Lucy Edson, design team member and layout sketcher extraordinaire.

Member Monday with Lucy Edson

This week Lucy brings us our Layout of the Week. She chose Kerry Murray's layout "Free Spirit".

Here is a little more with Kerry in a small interview with Lucy.
1. What got you started in scrapbooking? I got started in scrapbooking when a friend showed me some pictures that she had done. I loved it and went looking for scrapbooking
shops. That was four years ago now and haven't stopped.
2. What three supplies could you not scrap without? I couldn't scrap without my distresser tool Heidi Swapp, my guillotine or my double sided tape.
3. What is your favorite part of scrapbooking? My favorite part of scrapping is seeing my pictures all scrapped in a book with stories most of the time. I am glad I started this hobby as when my older children were young I never had the inclination to scrap. It was not around like it is today. I have found it great to record my youngest child's journey so far. It is funny how you forget all the little things and habits that they have. So for me it is the memories.
4. What are your favorite products or manufacturers? Favorite by far is Prima,then it would be Websters Pages, Heidi Swapp, Basic Grey and I also like Little Yellow Bicycle.
5. What inspired this layout? I was inspired to do this layout firstly by the photo then by the red in this layout as I love the look of the pattern in this paper. I cut it out then I built the layout up from there. Prima papers really come out with some wonderful flowers and papers that I really love to scrap. A lot of the time their papers really do inspire me to do a layout. And also a good photo makes me want to sit down and scrap too.

Little Something Sunday with Rachel Hall

Today Rachel brings us a super quick and easy idea for customizing your flower embellishments.

1. Select 3-5 varying sizes of flowers.

2. Adhere them together using either your adhesive or your brad or both.

3. Add Stickles to the edges of each petal on each flower.

4. Let dry and voila! Perfect sparkly, custom flowers to use on your projects!

Hambly Spotlight!

As I have mentioned before, the design team was sponsored by Hambly this month and today we are going to take a look at some more of the design team's creations. I think it is amazing how the design team really showed the versatility of Hambly's products. You'll see some layouts here that are super bright, colorful, and trendy, and some that have more of a vintage flair. Artist by Stacy Cohen. Stacy added real paintbrushes she "borrowed" from her kids to complement this super cute layout.

You Are My Sunshine by Lucy Edson. I love the black and white picture paired with the color picture.

Can't You See by Larissa Albernaz. I love the super cropped photo behind the Hambly rub on frame.

The Best Sisters by Hilde Janbroers. Hilde also used a Clear Scraps background and some pretty vintage elements like the flowers and crystals.

Kiss by Wendela Lam. Wendela cut the heliconia overlay into a bracket shape and did some inking here. The added tissue gives it great texture.

Create by Susan Dupre. I love the butterfly on this one and how everything is gathered at the bottom of the layout.
