Ribbon Inchies

I'm not a ribbon person. Well, actually, I love buying it, and have way too much of it, but I just have no idea how to use it! Over the years I've amassed quite a collection, so today I thought I'd have a go at using some of it.

1. Grab some inchie squares, or you can make your own.

2. Cut up some small strips of ribbon just over an inch long.

3. Adhere the ribbon strips to the inchies with tape or glue, being sure to wrap the ends around the back. I found staggering the strips prevented a bulk at one end as each is overlapped with the previous.

4. Finally adhere them to your page - I've spread mine over this page, but you could also group them all together for an interesting, textured mat below a photo.
Thanks so much Kat. These are cute and add great texture and dimension to your layout!

Member Monday with Jeni Boisvert

Welcome to a new Member Monday on this post Super Bowl Monday. How about a little inspiration? This week's pick comes from Jeni Boisvert who chose the layout below by Mette Kallander. Jeni said, "All of Mette's layouts are lovely. You really need to check out her A Million Memories gallery. This layout jumped out to me. It's simply beautiful; the colors, the layers, but more than that, it was as if she scrapbooked an actual feeling. I could feel the emotion. I connected with it right away and just "get" it. Capturing emotion on a layout is difficult and I think Mette did a superb job."

Valentine's Day Pillow Box Treats
Today I'm going to show you how to make a cute and easy Valentine's Day craft! There are lots of free pillow box templates online. I used this one.

Instructions:
1. Simply print your template on pretty Valentine's Day paper and follow the cut and fold lines.

2. If you want to make a window in your pillow box so that you can see the treats inside, just cut a rectangle from the box before it is folded.

3. Back the window with a transparency and then continue folding your pillow box. Add ribbon and other embellishments to finish it off.

These make adorable treat boxes for all those Valentines in your life!

It is a Banner Day!!

It is a banner day here at AMM as we announce our new contest, "Banner Bonanza", in which you have the opportunity to win brand new, not-yet-in-stores product direct from some of CHA's most popular manufacturers such as October Afternoon, My Mind's Eye, Pink Paislee, American Crafts, and Tattered Angels!

As we fawned over all the new product coming out, one trend we certainly noticed was banners. We saw chipboard ones, canvas ones, fabric ones, doily ones, wooden ones, banner embellishments, banners on paper, and more.

So what do you have to do to have a chance to win this awesome prize pack? Incorporate a banner from any material, any style you want into your project and post it to the contest thread and the gallery by Friday February 19th at midnight in order to win.

This could mean a banner that is on a layout or an actual banner to hang up. Submissions should be newly created for this contest and not previously posted anywhere else and only one entry per person.

Here's a little hint...the February kit just so happens to have a little chipboard banner kit in it. So if you are need of inspiration or materials I suggest signing up for this kit, or better yet, a subscription!

The project that wows the design team the most will win this awesome prize pack! We can't wait to see what you come up with! Here is a look at the huge prize pack you could win:

Best of luck!!

February Design Team Scraplift

Welcome to a new month of design team scraplifts! This month several members of the design team chose to lift this layout by Julie Overby. You can visit her blog here.

"Winter Divas" by Julie Overby

Our first design team lift comes from Larissa Albernaz who said, "This layout is adorable! I love her design and I specially love how her paper combo makes the perfect match with her theme. It´s incredible how the papers almost have the same pattern as the diva´s winter clothes. I tried to reproduce that idea, using a grid like Julie did."
"Nuts For You" by Larissa Albernaz

Next is Kat Glossop who said, "Julie's page is so pretty. The first thing that popped out to me is the square tiles, which I've tried to put a different spin on, and then the fact that the title is at the top of the photo. I can't remember the last time I did that, so thought I better give it a shot! Thanks for the inspiration Julie."
"Water Boy" by Kat Glossop

Moving right along, next up is Rachel Hall who said, "My favorite parts of Julie's layout were the patchwork of squares and the scattered embellishments throughout, both of which I drew inspiration from for my layout. I also love her use of journaling strips and incorporated that into my layout as well. Thank you so much for sharing your layout in the gallery and inspiring all of us Julie!"
"Snow Angel" by Rachel Hall
Last, but not least, is this lift from Stacy Cohen who said, "I love the patchwork design on Julie’s beautiful layout. I decided to incorporate that idea on my layout using squares of fabric. I was also inspired by the bright colors on Julie’s layout, so I went with a vibrant color scheme on my page."
"One of a Kind" by Stacy Cohen
Thanks for a great February lift girls! Keep uploading those projects for a chance to be lifted in March!

The February Sketch

The sketch to accompany this month's kit was designed by the talented Jeni Boisvert.

Each month a different design team member designs a sketch to accompany our kit and give you a little jump start on your creativity. Stay tuned to see what the design team does with the sketch and to see the fantastic designs of our guest designer this month, Suzy Plantamura.

Feel free to use your kit for the sketch or other product, but we would love to see what you do with it, so link us up here, or post your layout on this thread.

Design Team Challenge with Rachel Hall

Song titles and lyrics are a great scrapbookig resource to convey the words that sometimes we struggle to find. For the next two weeks I challenge you to use a song title or lyrics, or even better, both title and lyrics for your title and/or journaling on a project.

For my layout for this challenge I used the title and lyrics to Wilco's song "You & I".

Post your music inspired projects here by midnight PST on February 6th and I will randomly choose a winner for a $10 gift certificate to shop at the AMM store with.

Good luck and happy scrapping!!

Member Monday with Staci Taylor

In our first post CHA Member Monday we have the fantastic Staci Taylor to share with us a new Member Monday. This week she chose this super cute card by Charity Hassel.

Staci said, "I love it when people find unique ways to use scrapbooking products, and I could not stop staring at this card when I saw how Charity used the flourish to make "hair." Genius!"

"Together Forever Couple" card by Charity Hassel

Have yourself a little read of the interview Staci did with Charity for this post.

Staci: I love when people use products in unique ways, and the flourish "hair" on your girl on this card is SO adorable! Can you explain the process you used to make this card and how you came up for the adorable flourish idea?
Charity: I made the card from a sketch at cardpositioningsystem.blogspot.com. I really loved the man and wife and started digging through some embellishments trying to doll up their outfits when I came across the white flourish. It just clicked to use it as hair! hee!

Staci: Where do you get your inspiration from when it comes to scrapping and cardmaking?
Charity: Inspiration comes from many places- the energy of being around other scrappers whether online or in person, sketches, and the product itself.

Staci: What are your favorite products that you absolutely can not live without?
Charity: patterned paper, chipboard, and rubons

Have a visit by Charity's blog for more inspiration and be sure to leave her some love here on this post! You can check out her supply list for this card in the gallery here.
