Technique Tuesday with Kat Glossop
My first Technique Tuesday! How exciting! I’m going to be showing you how to make a blanket stitched foam lollipop flower, like on this layout.
Step 1. Tie a knot in the end of your thread, and beginning at the back side on your foam circle, stitch through to the front.
Step 2. Again from the back side, make another stitch next to your first, pulling it through the other side, being sure that your main thread is on the center side of the needle and pull through.
Step 2. Again from the back side, make another stitch next to your first, pulling it through the other side, being sure that your main thread is on the center side of the needle and pull through.
Step 3. From the back side again make another stitch next to the second, making sure the main thread is towards the middle of the circle, and pull through.
Step 4. Repeat the process again, and you will see the completed stitches start to emerge.
Step 5. Once you’ve completed the circle and come back to the beginning, instead of stitching through from the back, weave the needle under the first stitch, pull it tightly towards the outside of the circle, and secure it at the back with tape.
Voila! Repeat the circles for how ever many layers you’d like on your flower, then add a button on top to finish it off. I love the look of the foam, but this stitch can be used on just about any material, including felt–something with a little bit of dimension works best.
Happy stitching!
Happy stitching!
