Technique Tuesday with Jennifer Longenecker

Today I'm going to show you how to turn a Jenni Bowlin mini album into a cute journal for all your haunted memories. Plan on getting your hands a little dirty.

To start with gather your supplies. You will need a mini album, a sheet of pattern paper, a page torn from an old book or dictionary, and several haunted embellies.

Trace around the cover of your mini album onto the back side of your pattern paper, cut out and adhere it to your cover. Apply a watered down coat of cream paint to the top. Once you are done with that tear your book page to size and adhere to the cover. Again apply a watered down coat of cream paint adding a few strokes of yellow.

To give your journal a really dirty look get some black paint and really water it down. Touch your paintbrush along the top of the cover and allow it to drip down the journal cover.

To finish it off add your embellies and splash with a little walnut ink. Mine had a few bubbles in the splotches so I decided to smear the ink a little.

Make the holes for your binder clips, but the journal back together and you're ready to go.
