Little Something Sunday with Wendy Sommers

Little Something Sunday with Wendy Sommers

I am constantly inspired by home décor magazines and web sites for my scrapbook layouts. I often look to them for design ideas – be it for colour options or picture placement, etc.

I was immediately inspired by this sofa and surrounding living area when I saw it at www.decorpad.com:

I loved the mirrors, the hounds tooth design on the pillows, the colour palette and those beautiful flowers on the table. The orange immediately made me think of the Popsicles my children had enjoyed one day at Disneyworld in November. I grabbed those pictures and got creating. Here is what I came up with:

I substituted the orange in my paper and embellishment choices for red. The flower I made to showcase at the top, centre of my layout mimics the mirrors. I used the Jillibean Soup journaling sprouts, which contain a lot of green, to represent the tulips in the photo. You can see that my paper choices (also Jillibean Soup – Pasta Fagioli) reflect the colours in the photo, as well as the design on the pillows.

Do you ever look to home décor for inspiration? Give it a try! I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Amazing interpretation! I think your page looks way better than the decor photo! :D I just love the color palette and the details you incorporated. I have never used home decor/designs for inspiration. I am definitely going to try it out. Thank you for sharing your idea.
