Technique Tuesday with Staci Taylor

Today I want to talk about ribbon. If you're like me, you have tons of it stashed away :-) I'm always looking for different ways to use ribbon, so today I'm going to show you a unique use I found with the beautiful yellow ribbon from AMM's Feb kit.

This ribbon has strands of tulle hanging off of it, and I thought it would look really cool made into a sun on my layout.

So, the first step I did was put some adhesive down in the spot I wanted my sun, and I wound the ribbon up around itself into a circle, leaving some aside for later use.

Every sun needs rays, of course, so I cut some of the leftover ribbon into rays, placing them down on adhesive.

Now, because my ribbon is very fluffy, I knew the adhesive wouldn't keep for too long. So, to keep my sun in place, I used a zig-zag stitch on my sewing machine to keep it where I wanted it.

I think the result is a fun, quirky embellishment that really jazzed up my layout.
